The Evangelism Spectrum
Jesus wasted no time with the disciples communicating their purpose on the other side of His resurrection. "As the Father sent me, so I am sending you." Christians are sent people. You and I, we are commissioned people. According to Jesus, our mission echoes and reflects His own. As the Father sent Jesus, Jesus sends us. So...what exactly does that mean? This sending is largely connected to the idea of evangelism. In the Gospel of Mark, the first words out of Jesus' mouth were words of proclamation: "The time has come. The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:15). As sent, commissioned people, we are sent out to proclaim the good news of God with us for everyone to hear. But...how exactly do we do that? This week we'll explore what evangelism is, what it isn't, and why it is much more than what we often think it is.
