The Power of Needing Each Other - 10:30am Contemporary Service
In Luke 10, Jesus sends his disciples out ahead of him to proclaim the gospel - the good news of God's in-breaking, present-future kingdom bursting forth into the world. As Jesus sends them out, He gives them a number of different instructions, including the command not to bring money or extra provisions for the journey. This means that as they enter into towns and share the good news of Jesus with the world, they enter into these towns very much dependent on the charity and provision of the community in which they enter. Rather than sending them out like kings with great wealth or soldiers with great power, he sends them out rather vulnerable. They'll need help from the very people they've come to help with the good news of the gospel. This week will explore this reality - that as men and women of faith, we don't just share the gospel with people, God intends us to share our needs with others as well.
