Doug is Going to Cuba!

I am once again traveling to Cuba to visit the church at Guasimal March 10-14th. Cuba continues to struggle in providing even basic necessities for their people. Two hurricanes hit them this past year which compromised their already inadequate infrastructure, especially electricity, as well as destroying property. I was asked to send the list out ahead of my trip so you could take advantage of any sales that may come up between now and the time I leave. You were so generous last year when I went, providing glasses and medicines. This year I asked Pastor Orlando of any specific needs that they have, and he responded with the following items.
God Bless You (Dios te Bendiga)
Doug Nordby

  • Analgesics/pain relievers, Probiotics, Antihistamines, Excedrin, Vitamins (adults and children)
  • Food Items – easily transportable, like powdered milk and rice
  • 2 rechargeable lamps/lights that can be used when the power is out
  • A laptop computer (used is okay, but should be wiped clean of data)
  • Clothes for the Pastor’s family – if interested contact me and I can get you the sizes for the Pastor, his wife, son (17), and daughter (10)
  • Clown costume and face painting materials
  • Money to help repair the roof and toilets in the parsonage and church
  • Stretch request: money for a motorbike to assist the Pastor’s son to get to school (an hour away)
We are collecting items on Sunday, February 16th and Sunday, February 23rd, but you can also drop by the office during the week (M-Th, 9-5). Monetary donations should be earmarked “Cuba” and payable to DLC.

Join the DLC Choir

We sing a variety of musical styles and offer music at the Traditional service on Sundays. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays (5:15-6:15 pm) in the Sanctuary.  We also prepare a special Cantata during the Christmas season.  All are welcome to join – either as a regular member or just for the Christmas season.
