Young at Heart
Young at Heart strives to build a community of seniors serving seniors in our church family as well as a clearinghouse to coordinate and communicate the needs of our seniors. Young at Heart provides opportunities for fellowship, education, meals, and so much more! Our focus is on anyone “seasoned” in life (roughly 60 and up), but anyone of any age is welcome to get involved, both by attending our events and volunteering to serve.
Fraud Prevention Lunch
Join us on March 23rd at 11:00 am for a seminar in the Gathering Hall on how to detect and avoid common scams prevalent to older adults. Topics to be covered include: investment scams; romance scams; phone/tech scams; and counterfeit scams. The seminar will be presented Rupali Thompson, a Financial Crimes Detective with the Leon County Sheriff's Office. Her unit investigates credit card fraud, embezzlement, bank fraud, elderly exploitation, and other white-collar crimes. According to the FBI, in 2023 scams targeting people 60 and older caused over $3.4 billion in reported losses. Come learn how to avoid becoming one of these statistics. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to Tammy at tammyyoung89@hotmail.com by Friday, March 20.
