Surprised by Provision

It’s hard not to blame the disciples for wanting to send the crowds home that day. It was late, they were tired, provisions were low, and there were over 5000 hungry people needing to be fed. It wasn’t just a difficult task; it was an impossible one! So when Jesus said, “you feed them” the shock and awe of such a suggestion was surely mind blowing. But it wasn’t a joke and it wasn’t just a suggestion - Jesus meant it.  What do you do when the thing God calls you to is completely beyond your capacity and skill to achieve? What do you do when the most faithful thing you can do still feels terribly insufficient for the task at hand? This week, we’ll explore Jesus’ instruction to feed thousands of people with nothing more than a small picnic lunch and all that it reveals to us about God's desire to provide and supply us with all that we need.
