In Matthew 5, Jesus drops a bombshell. Honestly, it's an easy command to teach others, but it may just be the hardest command in the world to teach myself. The command? Love your enemies. I can think of any number of things I wish Jesus had said instead. Tolerate your enemies. Ignore your enemies. Better yet, defeat your enemies... but these are not the teachings of Jesus. He doesn't instruct us to tolerate, ignore, defeat, or destroy; Jesus commands us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us.
