When Law Meets Love
In John 8, a woman is caught in sin, dragged before Jesus, and placed at the center of a legal and moral trap. Her accusers do not really care about her or her wrongdoing—she is a pretext, a tool used to back Jesus into a theological corner. In their minds, no matter how He responds, they think they’ve got Him. But Jesus responds in a way they never saw coming. With His words, He exposes the hearts of the accusers even as He restores the dignity of the accused. He neither denies the law nor abandons it—but reveals its deeper purpose. In doing so, He shows us that the goal of God’s law was never condemnation, but restoration. This Sunday's teaching explores the moment when law and love collide—and how, in Jesus, they are not enemies but fulfilled together. Because when law meets love, justice is fulfilled… and sinners are restored to life.
