2023's Most Googled Person

2023's most Googled person comes as a bit of a surprise.  When you consider the kind of year we had in 2023, some names immediately jump out as possibilities: Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Joe Biden, or even Taylor Swift come to mind.  But none of these names are the most googled person of 2023 - that honor belongs to Damar Hamlin.  

​​​​​​​Hamlin is a NFL player for the Buffalo Bills who, on January 2, 2023, suffered a horrible cardiac incident in the middle of a football game.  Seeing him collapse in the middle of the game shocked fans and sent the internet scrambling for updates around his condition.  Hamlin survived the incident and has since returned to playing professional football, but the collective response of the world in response to Hamlin's injury raises some questions.  Why did an injury to a player in a sport known for injuries strike so much curiosity and concern?  What was it about this incident that caused so many people to stay zoned into his condition and recovery?  

As we kick off the new year, we'll explore what Hamlin's injury says about our own hearts, fears, and condition and how Jesus Christ is always ready to meet us smack dab in the middle of those questions.
