Why are Christians such hypocrites? If Christians are supposed to be loving, why do they often seem so judgmental? If Jesus was so kind, why are Christians so mean-spirited? Questions like these are often asked by people who have been hurt by Christians or turned away from faith because of the Church. So how should we respond? What responsibility should Christians take for the harm done in Jesus’ name, and what needs clarity or deeper understanding? And how does all of this connect to the work of the Holy Spirit — being born again, being made new, and the ongoing process of becoming more like Jesus?
